Complete with 40 engraved plates and large folding County map as called for. Also an additional folding map, "Showing the Langport, Somarton and Castle Cary Turnpike Roads 1857" with the roads coloured in red as issued, this map creased but sound and partially tipped onto front pastedown of Volume 1. Contemporary signature "Wm Pyne" on front pastedowns [perhaps William Henry Pyne 1769-1843?]. Generally very clean internally.

J.S. Virtue, London, 1892. This India Paper Edition is limited to Five Hundred Copies. Out of series copy presented to the publisher Crosby Lockwood. Large folio (18 x 13 inches). Engraved title vignette and 39 engraved plates together with leaves of descriptive text.

Disbound, all leaves loose (as usual due to the perishing of the caoutchouc). The title-page is damp-stained. The following plates have the following faults to the margins, not affecting the images themselves: Ramsgate, East & West Looe, St. Mawes & Portsmouth with marginal damp marking; Weymouth & Devonport, with marginal foxing. Whitstable corner torn away from blank margin. One plate with vertical crease to margin. Some edge chipping to a few of the text leaves, 1/3rd of one plate individual printed title leaf removed. Overall the images are crisp impressions and very clean.

STAFFORDSHIRE: GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY: A very large Ordnance Survey map, or rather maps joined, of parts of Stafforshire. Stamped to the rear, "To be Returned to GWR Engineers Dept., Paddington".

Ordnance Survey, 1903. The map sheet measures 8 ft 4 ins x 7ft 5ins and are 6-inch to the mile sheets LVI, LVII, & LVII and possible 3 more whose sheet numbers would have been lost at joining. Lower right is a coloured coded reference as the map has been partly coloured to show the Boroughs of West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Oldbury, Rowley, & Tipton; buildings erected, sites of sewage disposal, bus routes, waterworks, police stations, tramways, etc. etc. In very good order.
